Clifton 52 - 17 Cirencester 15/04/2012 PDF Print E-mail
It was a great day for Clifton U15s

It was dry and sunny (for once) just how we like it. In the first 15 minutes we took great advantage of the dry pitch with two great attacking tries. The first by Nick Postlethwaite who single handedly took on his opposite number and the fullback with a blinding run and a cheeky celebration - eat your heart out Chris Ashton. The next by  Keshan who covered 40 meters on one leg to eventually flop over line  -  who soon after had to be substituted due to an injury in the first 5 minutes of play.

Clifton 24 - 0 Cheltenham PDF Print E-mail
Firstly, I would like to thank all of the Mum’s and Gran’s that came to support us on Mother’s Day! We travelled up to Cheltenham on a cold and damp morning to play the ¼ final of the Gloucester Cup after losing last time out.  Everyone arrived on time bar the usual (that’s Gary if you hadn’t already guessed) ready to get back to winning ways. The game started after a good warm up thanks to Wendy Boyland who prepared us well.

Clifton 0 - 33 Coney Hill 04/03/2012 PDF Print E-mail
Gloucester Cup group match - 4 March 2012
We all knew Coney Hill would be a tough match, and the extremely cold weather and wet surface did not help our running style of play. We were also hindered by missing some key players through injury, enforcing a reshuffle of positions.  The first ten minutes of the match stretched our defence and we held out well with a few tries that were held up.

Clifton 43 - 8 Widden Old Boys 26/02/2012 PDF Print E-mail
Gloucester Cup group match 26 February 2012

Widden 8 –v- Clifton 43 (sorry cursor must have slipped!)

As can be seen from the score line this game ‘ended up’ as a quite convincing win although I would agree with Jeremy that at times we tended to lose some of our composure and let things get a bit scrappy.

From the kick off we tended to show our superiority in all departments of the game with some great attacking play by both forwards and backs with some fast running rugby which the home team found it difficult to deal with. Although saying that they did manage to put in some fairly good defensive tackles at times.

Clifton 29 - 0 Bath 19/02/2012 PDF Print E-mail
Club Match v Bath 19 February 2012
A home friendly against Bath gave the coaches a chance to give the whole squad some playing time after missing a few Sundays to the weather. The first half was pretty even and Bath had the chance to score first but missed an easy penalty kick. Just before half time a cross field run by Freddie Owsley found Esher Pegrum in space and Freddie scored from Esher's return pass.

Clifton 48 - 15 Old Patesians 15/01/2012 PDF Print E-mail
Gloucester Cup group match 15 January 2012
We started the game strong and within 20 seconds a perfectly weighted 'Red 9' from Ollie bounced perfectly into the hands of Sam giving him the usual, run the pitch try. They won a lot of the ball during the first half and continually made it difficult for us to get the ball in hand, but eventually our pace and skilful hands told and we were able to run in 3 more 1st half tries to their single score.

Clifton 29 - 5 Cleve 11/12/2012 PDF Print E-mail
Bristol Combination Cup Plate final 11 December 2011

Clifton received kick off and placed pressure on the Cleve side early on. A few poor decisions meant that Clifton didn't gain any points straight away despite there efforts. However after persisting, the Cleve line eventually cracked allowing Melville to score in the corner. After the conversion attempt Cleve's fly-half got the game re-started and after chucking the ball around in the middle of the pitch for a few minutes Clifton visited the the oppositions 22 for the second time. The pressure again started to tell and this time the Clifton side was rewarded points much sooner than there previous efforts(10-0). Cleve then picked themselves up and scored there only try of the match(10-5).

Bristol Combination Cup Plate semi-final 4 December 2011

My dad says that I am not a very good eye-witness. When I was 4 years old and on holiday in Majorca I mistook a goat for Father Christmas (they both had white beards), so I may have identified some players incorrectly in this report!

Clfiton 53 - Weston 0 20/11/2011 PDF Print E-mail
Bristol Combination Cup Plate quarter-final 20 November 2011

A strong Clifton U15 outfit comfortably defeated a Weston U15 team on Sunday the 20/11. With Bristol academy players; Mark Cottam; Sam Boyland; Oliver Campbell; Esher Pegrum and Scott Ball returning to the side, Clifton dominated both possession and territory. Clifton soon capitalised on their early efforts when winger Keshan crossed the line for two early tries. The Clifton front five continued to win quick ball for the impressive backrow who carried and offloaded well.
