If you attend any First XV games at Clifton you will be aware that we have an eloquent and proactive Match Day Announcer in Roger Opie. As well as commenting on the match events, he also uses pauses in the action to give updates on some of the events at Clifton Rugby Club. Some of his notes are recorded here.

The 2011-12 season gets underway
Throughout the long hot summer months Director Darren and Coach Salts took up permanent residence in trendy coffee bars in Clifton Village. Intense focus on their respective laptops led to considerable speculation by locals as to the nature of their endeavours. Darren obviously had the gorillas on his radar as front five cover. The Salter girls, mother and daughter, kept reassuring passersby that however sinister the pair appeared that their big boy would not be playing this season----this was a short lived hope. Director and Coach, looking like Somali pirates on tour, travelling in a darkened Mercedes failed to kidnap David Rees when your announcer was making progress in a deep conversation about old men and torn tendons.

CLIFTON V WESTCOMBE PARK 12 MARCH 2011
The Grandstand welcomed the distinctive blazers from Westcombe Park [it’s Spring and President Raine will soon be sporting his Clifton Rats attire--- perhaps at Dings?] and the Westcombe 2nd XV who apparently got on the wrong bus---thought they were at an away game in Kent----once they appreciated that we sit in the Grandstand all was well and they made a real contribution to our bar profits.
