 Clifton   Vs  Dings

Clifton play Dings at Station Road on Saturday in probably the closest derby that takes place in National 2 South - the two clubs are located only 3 miles apart. Clifton will be very keen to put in a good performance following last weeks dissappointing loss in Kent and will need to be at the top of their game against opponents who demolished Newbury last week.

Both Clifton and Dings are very much part of the proud and thriving Bristol rugby community and share alot in common by providing rugby to a large number of senior, junior and mini players whilst also pushing their first teams to the highest league occupied by any club in Bristol outside Bristol Rugby club itself.

Clifton have had a constructive weeks training where the management have targetted specific areas that resulted in the loss last week, all the players are eager to get back on the pitch and return to the high performance standard they set last season. A few changes are made to the team with players returning from injury and availability.

Last years games between the two sides could not have been closer with the home game being drawn and Clifton going down in the away game by two points with the last play of the game. Combined with the fact that it is a local derby a close encounter is to be expected again. Dings will be feeling confident after their thumping win last week but Clifton will be looking to concentrate on their own game and get their season off to a good start.
Come along and show your support - we know our guests always bring a large and loud support base that add to the occasion so the more the better.

In other rugby, the Clifton Wanderers playOld Patesians away, the Clifton Bandits play Whitehall third team at home and the Clifton Nomads play Avonmouth 3rd team away.

The minis and juniors start their season on Sunday with a number of games and training taking place but it is certainly not too late to join if you are between 6 and 17 years old and would like to play. Just come along on any Sunday at 10AM. Salts Runs the Marathon

Clifton coach Matt Salter runs in the London marathon today in aid of the British Forces Foundation - you can visit his Just Giving page by clicking here. From his Just Giving page:

After finishing playing rugby rather than take it easy and enjoy gaining the pounds I've decided to challenge myself by running the London Marathon.
This kind of challenge is going to lead me into unknown territory in terms of physical endurance. It will either be a great day or a very painful sight seeing tour.
I am raising money for the Brisitsh Forces Foundation and it goes without saying what a fantastic cause this is.
