Clifton Rugby continued their excellent form with a fifth successive win to secure National League status for 2018/19

Winning in sport is about belief and momentum. This Clifton side has character and spirit in abundance.

It’s not over yet and what a journey it’s been.

The team has played well this season with some brilliant results, and the form since the away match at Taunton in February has been stunning.

Confidence, determination and pride were evident yesterday when the men in #LavenderAndBlack won their 5th consecutive match to confirm National League Rugby at Station Road for next season.

This particular match was critical for both teams as the relegation zone threatened. Clifton scored 3 tries in the first 15 minutes to state their intention, however the home side dug in and the score at half time was 17-19.

The second half was where the recent confidence and grit from Clifton started to show and a bonus point try coupled with stoic defence led to a full time score, 29-17

Next season may well see 3 sides from Bristol playing in National League 2 as Dings Crusaders rejoin the league and Old Red Cliffians continue their drive to security.

It’s been a fascinating season with many moments of success. For me though, the character and spirit the team has showed since mid February has been inspiring.

Great season boys! See you next week!
