We will not forget those Clifton members who died in conflict

In respect of the 100th anniversary of Passchendaele, the following players are buried in the area of Ypres, Belgium.

Lieutenant Colonel Courtenay Talbot St. Paul, DSO, Royal Field Artillery
Battle of Pilkem Ridge.

Captain William Edgar Paul, Royal Scots Fusiliers,
3rd Battle of Ypres
(No known grave, commemorated on the walls of the Menin Gate, Ypres)

Captain Dudley Allen Pontifex, Cameronians, (Scottish Rifles)
Battle of Pilkem Ridge
(No known grave, commemorated on the walls of the Menin Gate, Ypres)

2nd Lieutenant Frank Alexander Haycroft, King's Royal Rifles,

Captain Frederick Dudley Andrews, MC, 1/4th Gloucestershire Regiment

Major Henry Clissold, DSO, Royal Engineers,

Captain Richard Guy Titley, 1/6th Gloucestershire Regiment

Clifton Rugby Club lost many players in the First World War and as it is the 100th anniversary of Passchendaele, it is appropriate that we remember these seven soldiers as a reminder of what they and many more sacrificed for us.
