Champions Clifton Rugby defend their title this Friday night against local rivals Dings Crusaders in Bristol Combination Cup Semi-Final.

The rivalry between these two popular Bristol clubs dates back long before a lot of the current players will ever remember. This weekend sees the Lockleaze based side travel the short four mile journey to Station Road to face current Bristol Combination Champions, Clifton Rugby within a match that is more than just eighty minutes of rugby.

Clifton Rugby earned the Bristol bragging rights last year with a victory over Cleve RFC at the Bristol Memorial Ground. An early try from Alfie To'oala started the lavender and black side to a convincing victory over their challengers and became the Bristol Combination Cup Champions.

That being said Clifton 1st XV remain grounded in their approach towards Friday night's encounter with Dings Crusaders. Despite being relegated from National League two (South) last season, Dings Crusaders are going to be a tough opponent come 7:45pm Friday night. The Crusaders sit just shy of the top spot of National League 3 South West and are still in contention, along side fellow combination club Old Redcliffians (Old Reds), to be promoted back into National League two.

It is going to make for a very exciting match to kick start your rugby binge this weekend.
