14 man Clifton fail to fire as OA's move above them in the league

A Niall Gibbons red card in the 16th minute left Clifton on the back foot as they struggled to get going against an OA's team that came out with an intent to move above Clifton by the end of the day.

An early OA' score put Clifton 7-0 down before Gibbons was sent to the changing rooms for a punch. After leveling at 7-5, Clifton then conceded 2 tries within 5 minutes before hitting back before the break to keep within touching distance of their mid-table rivals at 22-10.

However, the lavender and blacks never really got going in the second half, once OA's, who were seeing much of their play get rewarded with line breaks against a tiring Clifton side, scored twice again shortly after the break, the contest was over. Sam Goatley's last minute try pushed the scoreline closer, but OA's eventually ran out 49-24 winners.

This will have been a hard one to take for the squad, who pushed Henley all the way last week with 14. With the upcoming league break this weekend before the visit of Bury St. Edmunds and away to Baranes, the squad will need to reassess their position as they slip to 8th in the quest for 6th place at the end of the league campaign.
