With the festive break behind us, we now look forward to the what 2018 has install for our Clifton sides. The first match for our 1st XV side this year will see the squad travel away to Kent to face Tonbridge Juddians. As our Wanderers side are home against Exmouth, KO 2.30pm.
Match Preview | Tonbridge Juddians
This year Tonbridge were one of three teams to get promoted from National 3 into National League Two South, and at the half way stage of the season they can already hold their heads high. They currently sit 10th in the league, comfortably ahead of the dreaded relegation zone.
Further to this they have shocked the league with some victories over some long standing sides. Earlier this year they came away victorious in a 14-24 win over Clifton at Station Road and they have also found recent form with wins over Taunton and Canterbury RFC just before Christmas.
It's worth noting a quote from the Tonbridge Juddians' website this week...
"Clifton have won just 4 games to date and are currently 13th to TJs 10th however many of their losses have been narrow ones..."
With 6 out of our 9 losses being within 13 points it's clear that Clifton have small margins to over come and it's not going unnoticed. League tables do not lie, and the side fully accept they need to do better within this second part of the season. There seems to be a real buzz around the squad at the moment with a sharp refocus on finishing our hard worked performances with results we desire.
The Clifton squad have trained well this week with the senior side going 15 vs 15 earlier on this week. There is a raw passion going into Saturday.
