Clifton RFC is leading the way in sustainable rugby club development within its strategic plan 2013 to 2018

With the feasibility of setting up a Clifton RFC Foundation being undertaken over the last 6 months a range of community programmes have been developed and will be delivered from 2013 to 2015.

Using the power of promoting an active lifestyle to engage existing club members and potential new club members , the club is looking to drive rugby participation for adults, youth and children within a focused and strategic campaign of rugby based activity.

This will be achieved by setting up, organising and delivering on an in-house basis the following stage 1 programmes:

1. Clifton Rugby Camps – a mix of fun, rugby based camp programmes for younger children and more specific training camps for older age ranges with input from age group coaches.

2. Clifton Chargers – a preschool rugby and child development course for children aged 3 to 5 year olds and their parents. Venues include the club and local leisure centres at weekends and during the working week.

3. O2 Touch – an RFU sponsored programme of arrive and pay adult touch rugby for both men and women. Based at the club in the summer and Combe Dingle Sports Complex in the winter/spring period.

4. Participation Rugby Academy – a new service in Bristol offer ing children aged 9 to 14 years old a mid week term time coaching experience on 3G Astroturf facility by a leading RFU Level 3 coach. Attendance in this 36 week programme will include 6 free days on the Clifton RFC rugby camps. This fills the gap between grassroots coaching, county schools selection and elite performance academies.

A Stage 2 development includes coaches in secondary schools and primary school sports premium rugby coaching offer.

If you would like, as a club member, to get involved with this programme as a coach or a parent then please contact Darren Lloyd, Chairman of Clifton RFC.
