Four changes to the Clifton Rugby side to face Cinderford RFC.

Long term consistency trumps short term intensity

Tomorrow Clifton Rugby’s Senior 1st XV travel away to Dockham Road in Gloucestershire to face Cinderford RFC in the second game of their National League Two Campaign. The side performed valiantly last week and in training over the past week have addressed those areas of.

Matt Salter (Head Coach) and his management have made very few changes to the side this week. The only changes coming through player unavailability.

In the Fullback position there is a new, yet ever so familiar face. Ian Clark returns to Clifton Rugby’s 15 shirt to manage the defensive back three and supply Clifton with his quick and punishing counter attack. Changes are made also in the centres, with Dan Wells still out injured and club ‘veteran’ William Pomphrey unavailable, we see Jack Watters back in the mix having returned from his travels in the USA. He links up with Marcus Beer as the two centres for tomorrow’s fixture.

The last change comes in the 10 shirt with Brad Barnes taking up his familiar position. Despite a Man of the Match performance last week, Chris Leversley is unavailable to other personal commitments. However Barnes returns fresh and ready to control the game as he did all of last season.

The last change is Max Woodward’s return onto the bench. Having recovered from a head injury in the off season, Max is itching to get back on the pitch and his hands on a turnover or three.

Forwards are unchanged with Andy Chesters leading the side again from the No. 8 position.

The match will be played this Saturday 9 September at 3.00pm. For those wishing to travel away please find the ground address below.
