This past Sunday Clifton Rugby Club's Mini Section hosted a hug festival for a variety of visiting clubs.

Over 100 teams from across the region attended our event this passed Sunday (24th September)

After months of planning and hard work from the Clifton Festival Team, over 100 teams came together from Avonmouth, Old Bristolians, Hornets, Cheltenham, Stow, Cleve, Keynsham, St. Brendan's, Thornbury and Wellington. We saw large numbers of girls and boys compete in a number of different age groups, the place was absolutely heaving with action.

As a senior player of the club and this year's Club Captain, I attended the event. As I walked around the grounds I was filled with immense pride for our club. The amount of children with smiles on their faces and the excitement in their voices was a pleasure to experience. The nostalgic feeling over took me and reminded me of times when I was a minis player. As a child you're oblivious to the efforts that parents, coaches and volunteers all make. However it is down tothese sacrifices and contributions that ensure our minis all have a smile on their face and go away with a lasting experience which extends long after the car journey home.

With this in mind we must recognise our rugby club members and pay a hug thank you to our festival organising committee who have worked tirelessly to make this event happen. A further thank you must go to our club volunteers, all the car park attendants, pitch marshals and volunteers of the infamous cake stall. Without these people such an event and our rugby club would not function, thank you.

Our gratitude is extended to all our coaches and to the referees involved on the day. These volunteers give up a lot of their time for not only the love of the game, but to ensure all our sides have a complete experience. Not to mention the ongoing development of our players as rugby stars but as people too. Thank you.

Finally many thanks to all our sponsors of the event and to Spectrum Catering for their hard work feeding the many hungry mouths.

Please, on behalf of the club, our senior players and from myself, accept our gratitude. This is our club and we proud to be apart of it.
