Mike signed for Clifton from Welsh Premiership side Pontypool in 2014. He initially was part of Bath Rugby's Academy before moving to Cardiff Met University. There, he was part of successful National and European winning sides, including being vice-captain of the inaugural European Universities 7's Champions in 2007.Following graduation, he signed for Ulster as part of Mark McCalls RaboDirect squad. However, injury cut his contract short and he returned to Wales where he signed for Pontypool, making 50 appearances for the Welsh Premiership side.
Mike took up the role of Defence Coach with the 1st XV following his retirement from playing at the end of the 2017/18 season after making over 60 appearances for the Lavender & Blacks.
A former EPG Academy Coach at the Dragons for several years before heading back over the bridge, Mike has also worked with the Bristol Bears Academy Pathway before becoming Clifton's defensive coach in the 2018/19 season.
