It was the day after hordes of people dressed as Zombies invaded the streets of Bristol.
And continuing the theme our boys, too, struggled to look fully alive in the early stages of their home match against Winscombe.
The visitors, whose backs were excellent throughout and stretched us on many occasions, were well worth their first try.
But after a good passage of play we created an overlap on the blindside which saw Sennan put away nicely for a try which was converted by Hugo.
Our forwards were dominant in the scrum and by and large provided good ball from the breakdown.
However, despite a good flow of possession, our backs found it difficult to get past the well-organised Winscombe defence.
The next two tries were scored by Winscombe who then led 17 points to 7.
Clifton responded well and created moments of pressure which led to a ruck on their line from which skipper Louis drove over with superb support from his fellow forwards. Hugo converted.
Now with the score 14-17, Clifton were poised for a great comeback.
But further outstanding Winscombe handling and support play created two tries which gave the visitors a well-deserved 31-14 win.
After several comfortable victories this season, this game has given us plenty to think about and work on.
We'll need to be better organised and look sharper right from the start in next week's cup fixture against Frampton Cotterrell.
Thanks to our referee who managed the game excellently.
