Development Tournament brings players on

Clifton put together a great development side to play at the Winscombe Tournament today. With only 8 players, no subs and four 14 minute matches to play the boys all did well.

After a slow start against Gardano Whites we then faced Gardano Makos. Both of the Gardano sides were very strong but Clifton showed great spirit and superb tackling by a number of the boys who stepped up to the mark.

Next it was OBs. Now the boys were in full swing and started to play like a team with a great result.

The last game was against Winscombe. Clifton were playing 3 straight games but were up for the challenge. There was some great rugby played by both sides which ebbed and flowed.

Today was about bringing players on which it certainly did. We had some of our more experienced players the re and this tournament helped take them to the next level and show how they can play.

The new players had a chance to perform and I think that they all enjoyed it.

Well done to Andre (1), George, Luke, Milan(3), Monty, Ollie Brock (4), Sammy G(2) and Tom.

Andre - really seemed to enjoy getting involved in the rucks. He is strong and will come on next season when it is a more physical game.

George - whilst he didn't score today he did stretch his legs and make some great runs. There were also some great tackles, including one try saving one. Keep it up George

Luke - a pocket rocket with a swerve, plays better after being hit by the opposition!

Milan - some good runs and tackles. The final run of the game from the re-start when you scored was magnificent. When fired up there is no stopping you.

Monty - some great tackles and ball carrying. It looked as if you were enjoying the games today.

Ollie Brock - with open space your running was good but what really impressed today was your tackling which was awesome. Some great crunching tackles. You did not miss one tackle today, well done.

Sammy G - believe in your running. Put your head down and run for the line and you will score even more tries than yo did today. When tackling think that it is your brother and nail them!

Tom - some moments of good play and you are progressing well. I want to see the Tom that played against Winscombe on the Downs the other week that was fired up when he got the ball. You are strong and run straight which a lot of players do not do. Keep at it.
