U10s show Richmond how the West Country play rugby

Richmond brought 3 teams and along with our friendly rivals from OBs who brought a team we had a 5 team round robin to wend the season.

The pitches were perfect and the sun was out again to make us forget all the rain we have had this season.

Today wasn't about who won (Though Clifton did not drop a game!)it was for the boys to have fun and for us to entertain the touring side who had been to Bath and Gloucester already this weekend.

All teams played rugby in the spirit it should be played, hard and fair. There was great rugby played by all of the teams and if Richmond were not aware how strong rugby in the West country is they are now having played two of the strongest sides from the area.

Richmond seemed to reserve most of their physical aggression for the matches when they played each other, neither side wanting to lose to their team mates.

Richmond were on occasions a man down so we were happy to lend them one of our players. To our players disgust & fear I gave them our very own man mountain, Matty and he did not disappoint, bulldozing his way past his team mates. Great tackling practice for next season!

Following on from the rugby it was a quick dash to the bar and awards ceremony.

Richmond certainly won the drinking competition and I would like to declare that Richmond U9s beat their U12s just with their coach leaving just before 4pm fully loaded with beer for the trip home!

Richmond, you are welcome back anytime and hopefully we will make it up to you during the internationals
