When you hit perfection there is very little to say. The boys were simply amazing today. 5 matches, 5 wins and no tries conceded. At no time today did the boys look like they were going to lose a game or even concede a try.
Having beat Old Patesians 10-0, Thornbury 10-0, Stroud 15-0, Widden OB 15-0 we were top of Table E and through to the quarter finals. Last year we had done the same, not conceded a try in the group stages only to be knocked out of the Quarter Finals by 1 try to nil. This year the draw was between Old Patesians, Cleve (not again!), Matson, Longlevens, Stow on the Wold, Cinderford & Cheltenham.
The draw gave us Longlevens who came second in their group behind Stow though only on point difference having drawn with them in the group. It was a thrilling match with great play all round. The forwards scrummed, rucked & mauled well and the backs showed the others how to pass and tackle. The end score was 15-0.
All the boys, including those who could not be there today, deserve to be proud of a great team in the making. It was lovely to hear the positive comments made by the other coaches on the way Clifton played. Thank you also to Marston RFC for a well organised event. I hope that the pitches recover soon.
Please keep 29th March free as this is the finals day of the Gloucester cup!
