Another Tournament another Clifton U12s win

A great start to the Season by Clifton U12s. The U12s parents had been busy organising the biggest event in the club's calendar and were not let down by their boys who performed on the pitch.

With 8 teams entered in two pools Cleve and Clifton with in opposing teams but we expected the inevitable and were not to be disappointed.

Clifton had a slow start playing St Brendans Old Boys, a team that we had not played for 3 years. SBOB showed some class and made Clifton fight for their 2 tries (Nassiri & Hamid) It was no push over match but was the awakening they needed to brush the Summer cobwebs off.

Next up were Keynsham. Feeling starved of tries Clifton run in 6 tries (Hamid 3, Simcox 1, new player James Oliver & Heming. Keynsham got 2 back. The Clifton boys disputed one try but unlike the RWC which has had more TMOs than tries there was no replay and the try stood. Clifton were taught a valuable lesson by the ref which they learnt from.

The final game of the group were Old Bristolians. At this point neither side had lost so it was the showdown to see who would win the group. This was probably the closest game of the tournament. Clifton raised their game but OBs were not going to roll over. OBs were missing Durie, a key player but they have the depth of players in their squad. Clifton came away 2-0 winners (Paine & Oliver).

Clifton now had to face the runners up in Pool B, Stowe. A well drilled side but they seemed tired and not up for this game. Maybe the home crowd and advantage was too much. Clifton walked into the final with a 4-0 win (Greenwood, Pearce, Simcox & Rai).

Would Cleve beat OBs to meet us in the final?? Cleve didn't let us down and once again it is a Clifton v Cleve final.

The scoreline 3-0 (Paine, Heming & Hamid) did not do Cleve justice. Clifton were in the hardest fought match of the day and Cleve did not give up until the whistle went. Weer they being kind and letting us win our own tournament...not Cleve. We will se you soon for another hard fought match.

A big thank you to all the teams who made it a great day of rugby and entertainment. We look forward to seeing you all throughout the season.
