Following being knocked out of the Gloucestershire cup on a technicality Clifton took on Cleve who were through to the semi-finals of the Cup. Cleve are one of the strongest sides in Gloucestershire & Somerset and it is always a hard fought match. With both sides looking for victory.

Cleve were feeling confident having progressed to the semi-finals of the Gloucestershire Cup but Clifton were set to do their talking on the pitch. It was decided to pay 3 period of 20 minutes which meant both sides could get all the players to have plenty of match time.

Clifton got out of the starting blocks straight away and piled the pressure on Cleve. It wasn't long before Clifton scored followed quickly by a further 2 tries to finish the period 15-0. Tries were run in by Connor Massey, George Davey and George Heming.

Into the second period and Cleve started well but couldn't get through Clifton's defensive line. Clifton were enjoying playing on the wider pitches and playing the flowing rugby that they enjoy. Cleve kept the pressure on but couldn't stop Ben BM and Milan Rai scoring to end the period 10-0.

Into the final period and Clifton were determined to keep a clean sheet. Cleve got close to Clifton's line but couldn't get the try they were looking for. Clifton spent most of the period in Cleve's half and run in a further 3 tries by George Heming, Luke Taylor (who stayed on until he scored and then left for a swimming festival!) and Milan Rai.

The work over recent weeks on scrummage and rucks showed. Clifton won all of their scums and even some against the head.

Whilst the final score was 45-0 Cleve never gave up and made Clifton work for every try. Another good hard match against great opposition followed by some banter in the bar afterwards between the coaches. Clifton are supporting Cleve to win the Gloucestershire Cup.
