An on form Clifton stop an unbeaten Cinderford in their tracks.

Both teams have an unbeaten record this season and both teams were looking for a challenging match that would test the new skills learned this season. Cinderford came to Clifton with high expectations having beaten Frampton 70-5 and Painswick by a similar amount.

Clifton were anticipating a hard fought game knowing that teams from the Forrest are never easy matches.

This was the U13s first match on the 1st XV pitch and the boys wanted to live up the expectations and they certainly did.

It was decided to play 3 periods of 15 minutes. Clifton chose to kick first and from the off it was a flat out game. Cinderford were good at catching the high ball and did not drop a catch all day. Their scrummaging was also solid though Clifton did manage a couple against the head.

Clifton drew first blood with a try by Jake Davies in the corner. After the restart Clifton were back down in the Cinderford half which saw yet another try this time by George Davey this time converted by Jake Davies.

With the closing part of the period Sami Hamid who had been active making some of the moves and tackling went over to score, converted by Jake Davies.

Clifton were pleased by the first period and surprised how well it had gone. With 7 subs Clifton took the opportunity to change their players about.

The second period was again dominated by Clifton with Cinderford not looking to trouble the home side. Tries were run in by Milan Rai (Jake conversion), Luca in the corner, followed by Isfahan Qumar. Milan Rai then did a great interception for the final try of the period converted by Matt Hogg.

Clifton went into the 3rd period 43-0 up but were will not playing their best rugby, if I am being harsh and super critical!

The 3rd period was about making sure we kept our score sheet clean and did not allow a try to be scored by Cinderford. Clifton started the period as planned and Sami Hamid scored the first followed by Matt Nassiri (Jake Davies Conversion). George Davey showed an uncharacteristic error and knock o, a certain try and in George fashion was annoyed with himself. Not to worry Jake Davies then scored and converted, Followed by Hamid and Jake conversion. Hamid then scored in the corner to give Jake some kicking practice. On this occasion Jake did not rise to the challenge and missed the conversion. Isfahan Qumar then scored and Hamid converted. The final try of the day went to George Heming.

Let's not take it away from Cinderford. They had travelled to Clifton to play the U13s who are an on form team and kept playing until the end. They didn't get the try they wanted and Clifton did very well to keep their clean sheet. They have earned the right to play on the 1st XV pitch.
