Tewkesbury had invited Clifton to their ground as we had not been drawn in the Gloucestershire Cup tables and both sides were so far unbeaten in the event.

The sun was out and the bells of the Abbey were ringing out loud but the real action was on the pitch. Clifton decided to take a radical approach as the coaches stepped back and let an injured Matt Hogg Coach the boys and mix the players positions up. This didn't stop a quick try by Hamid to open the scoring. A second try soon followed when the unstoppable Matin took the ball over the line. Tewkesbury defended their line with passion and there were at least 6 occasions when Clifton were either stopped just short or were over the line and held up. At one point it looked as though there was no way through the Tewkesbury defence.

Clifton were quick up on the Tewkesbury line causing mistakes, though Clifton were uncharacteristically knocking the ball on and giving away penalty after penalty. Tewkesbury made good use of this but could not convert it into point. Before half time Hamid run in a further 2 tries to finish the half 20-0 up.

Due to some full on rugby and a lack of substitutes Clifton opted to play the second half with 12 men. Connor opened the scoring for Clifton in the second half having missed 2 tries in the first half......

Tewkesbury though came back quickly to score their opening and well deserved try of the game. It was a hard fought second half with good play from both sides. Clifton's Rai scored. It was Clifton's turn to defend their line which they did from what looked like 2 certain tries but Tewkesbury forced a penalty from Clifton just before the whistle to score in the last play.

A great fixture and both sides are looking to play again next season.
