Not many teams can say that they have won the Landrover Cup. Even fewer can say that they have won it twice. So to have 3 teams playing each other who could all lay claim to this accolade was exceptional. Clifton has hosts made sure we had access to the 1st XV pitch.
It's been a year in the organising due to trying to find a date when all 3 teams could make it. We were due to meet before Christmas but the weather put a stop to that!
Finally not only did we manage a 3 way but with good weather and on Mothering Sunday (sorry mums......) but the boys enjoyed themselves!
I am not going to give details of each match as rugby won the day (and I am being lazy as the season comes to a close.....).
We had 3 great matches with Silhillians on fire and winning both of their matches and with hard fought rugby coming from behind against Clifton to win by a try. Clifton's only loss this season.
Taunton were missing players and whilst they did not complain it showed. Taunton are well respected by Clifton and we know they will be back next season as we look to carry on the 3 way tournament.
We were lucky enough to have Ruaire Smith reffing who is a Clifton U15 player who is a qualified ref. This allowed all sides to concentrate on the rugby and have a ref who could keep up with play - thank you Ruaire.
No games were won by more than 50 points ;)
