Theo Beavon captained this fixture for Clifton u14's against Cleve RFC, a fixture that all the boys look forward to each season as both sets of boys know each other well, and share friendships through school.

Millan Rai started the scoring off for Clifton with his try, Jake Davies narrowly missing his 1st conversion. Isfahan Qumar was next to go over the line, built up well with a Connor Massey assist.

Sami Hamid took the 3rd try over the line with a lovely assist from George Davey, breaking through and passing off to Sami to score. Jake Davies was spot on with his kicking converting neatly.

There was a dazzling run from Sami Hamid, left, right, left ,right, left, right – on and on, followed up by a Sashah Pashaei-Tarighoun try with Jake Davies converting smoothly through the uprights. This combination was repeated straight after by Sashah and Jake respectively.

Sami Hamid made it across once more with the support of both George Davey and Matin Nassiri. On this occasion Jake hit the post and didn't get the rub for it to fall the right side of the post.

Big Paddy Pearce was next through and across to score with Jake Davies finding his kicking consistency again.

Sashah then got his 3rd, again combining well with Jake to get full points available.

Both sides agreed to call the fixture at 50 points and continued to play the remainder of the time as a training game against each other in good spirit.

Full credit goes to Cleve u14s for hosting us with 15 players total, who played with heart and their heads up with no complaints for the entire fixture.

Great to see Matthew Hogg (Clifton RFC) and Paul Williams son (Cleve RFC) both in a leg casts/boot or more complicated contraptions (unfortunately due to injuries both sustained off the rugby pitch) – there to support their respective team mates.

Also, huge praise for Wasil Hussnain, new to Clifton u14's and rugby – having his 1st competitive run out and handling it well – again, brilliant to see the support and praise given from his fellow team mates to Wasil in his 1st experience with boys.

Special mentions
Forwards had a strong day turning over the ball in the scrum a more than a few times and last but not least to 'soft hand's' Matin Nassiri who pulled off some lovely handing of the rugby ball on a number of occasions.

Referee Nigel Owens quotes of the day and thought for the week:
“I don’t think we’ve met before, but I’m the referee”
“The football stadium is that way”
“You’re young gentlemen, you’ll be treated like it as long as you act like it”

Respect for the referee and your opponent in rugby is important. While getting into scrapes, biffs and bangs will happen from time to time, whinging is not on.

Until next time...

Thank you Matthew Hogg for writing the report specifics.
