Back to winning ways

In perfect playing conditions the Clifton boys warmed up and were raring to go. Despite the loss of our captain we were willing to show that we weren’t going to go down with out a fight, and what a fight it was!

In the first minutes of the game we were placed under immense pressure due to letting the ball bounce and wasting precious time in picking up the ball. When the ball was finally in our hands the Caldicot forwards were right on top of us and a tense rucking battle ensued, however Clifton managed to steal a line-out after conceding a penalty and Clifton were back on top of their game. Despite tackling errors and a cheeky kick over the top that led to tries, Clifton held their ground and scored some very good team tries of their own.

Some things that I feel need to be sorted in the forwards game; after we had a satisfying amount of points on the board all the forwards wanted to have their name on the score sheet. White-line fever was our downfall and it meant that lots of chances were missed because the forwards refused to let our scrum half pass it out wide where we had various over laps and try scoring opportunities.

A Special well done to Owen, Kieran, Ben Sommerville and Moniee for outstanding runs and tackling. Nathan also had a great game with fantastic work at the breakdown.

Lastly Special shout-out to George for his unbelievable water boy skills!

Minor things to work on but I think we will do well in the sevens and tens tournaments to come.
