Clifton host resurgent Wolfpack in Round 3 following Derby performance

Once the dust had settled last Saturday on the sweltering hot day at Shaftesbury Park, Clifton were able to reflect on a solid performance against their closest rivals where once again, the second half display was a marked improvement on the first 40 minutes.

The Lavender & Blacks arrived at Dings following their last minute winner against Barnes the week before and were inconsistent and lacked accuracy with the ball in the first half, despite producing very good defensive sets.

As the week before, Clifton came out strong in the second half and eased through the gears to record their biggest win at Shaftesbury Park, through two Sammy Harrison tries and one from former Dings back row, Mike Uren.

Bury arrive at Station Road following two very contrasting games at the start of their campaign. Their 38-19 loss to Old Albanians in round 1 was stark in comparison to their performance last week against Westcliff, running out 53-17 winner and Nick Wakeley's side will come to Clifton in hope of building on their god win last week.

Clifton have a clean bill of health after the derby last week, with man of the match Matthew Hall looking to continue his good run of form, along with Brad Barnes, currently with a 36 point haul over rounds one and two. Joe Quinn is in line to make his first debut for Clifton, having re-signed from Hartpury at the start of the year.

Clifton will be aware of the physical challenge posed by Bury, but Matt Salter is aware of where his side will need to continue their improvement:

"Bury are a physical side, they have good ball carriers and look to play with width. But we are going well at the moment, we have good momentum, a good squad and we want to keep boys fresh. We've made a few changes for this weekend and these boys are keen to get going. There's a great buzz about the place at the moment, Saturday is another opportunity to put a marker down, but we know the challenges BSE will bring. We have to be accurate and execute in the right areas."
