Clifton Ready for Friday Night Lights Derby

Clifton travel to Taunton Titans this evening for a West Country Derby that has more than local pride at stake. Whoever comes out on top at Towergate Stadium will end the evening at the top of the table, albeit until tomorrows results become final as Tonbridge & Henley are in action.

It marks the first time Clifton take on the early pace-setters around them as Clifton reman one of 4 sides to have only lost one game at this point in the season (Tonbridge, Henley, Taunton) and Scrum Half Mitch Spencer knows that it is a big test of Clifton's ambitions this season.

"It has been nice to win both or Bristol derby games so far, but Friday is a massive test of where we are and how far we have come as a team. We look at Taunton as another derby game, but no doubt it will be our toughest yet."

Clifton are enjoying a flying start to the season but Spencer is aware of the challenge facing them tonight and in the next few weeks: "Over the next 4 weeks we play Taunton, Henley & Tonbridge....at the end of November, we will have a very good idea of where we are. We've come along way since last season, we have some great personnel in the side and we are focused on our goals over this next month and it starts with Friday night. We know we are not the finished article, but we go to Titans confident in our ability and what we need to do to get a result. It's going to be an awful night weather wise, but we have the pack upfront to cause some damage and we need to make sure our game management is right."
