Everyone at Clifton Rugby Football Club was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Andrew Humphreys — “Humpo” to so many within the Bristol rugby community.
Humpo was a hugely respected and well-liked figure whose passion for rugby, friendship and community left a lasting mark across the game in Bristol and beyond.
Many at Clifton knew Andrew through Clifton Bandits, Nomads and countless charity matches over the years, where his enthusiasm, humour and generosity of spirit made him great company on and off the field.
Outside of playing, Andrew made an enormous contribution to Bristol Rugby as long-serving Chairman of the pioneering BRIS Trust (Bristol Independent Supporters Trust). Through fundraising, supporter engagement and direct financial backing, the Trust played an important role in supporting Bristol Rugby’s Academy and young player development programmes over many years.
Humpo was one of rugby’s genuinely good people — loyal, warm-hearted and deeply committed to the sport and the friendships it creates.
Andrew passed away suddenly at the age of 60.
Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his wife Julie, his family and all those who knew and loved him.
Rest easy, Humpo.
