90% of squad return for 2022/23 season

To keep such a large majority of the squad is a testimony to what we are building here
- Matt Salter, Head Coach

Clifton Rugby are pleased to confirm their retained squad from last year as the squad embarks on their latest campaign in National 2 West

With a raft of exciting new signings due to be announced shortly, the core goal of keeping a large majority of the squad together has been achieved. Plus, Clifton's addition of quality and depth in certain areas will look to ensure a strong, competitive squad for what promises to be an exciting season ahead as the club look to build on last seasons 3rd place.

Clifton will also maintain their links with Bristol Bears as they continue to aid in the development of young academy talent that has seen the likes of Wales U20 Jack Lloyd, Tomos Gwilliam and Harry Ascherl pull on the Lavender & Black.

"Our goal was to keep over 90% of this squad together. We've achieved that and plus we have secured some really exciting signings early this year which has been great for us to look at what we have next season. Naturally in the game, people move on and we thank those for their contribution to our journey. We have some new faces coming in, with some still to be finalised, but to keep such a large majority of the squad is a testimony to what we are building here. The boys leaving have moved for good reasons, be it higher level of playing or for personal reasons but that is part of the game. It's exciting what is happening here and people want to be a part of it."
Matt Salter, Head Coach

Clifton have seen Joe Owen sign professional terms with Bristol Bears and the club will no doubt continue to play a part in his development in the coming season. Blake Boyland also joins the England 7's core programme as well as being selected for the Commonwealth Games, but will retain his link to the club.

Clifton Rugby would also like to thank those departing players for their time at the club and wish them well for the next part of their careers.
