It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of Paul Greenough, who passed away 3 weeks ago after an accidental fall at home. Paul was my best friend at QEH and was the first choice scrum half all the way up to 1st XV. He represented Bristol Schools and Gloucestershire Schools. At 14, he joined Clifton RFC and played in the side that I captained, which was the first-ever side at any level to win the Gloucestershire Cup when we were U15s. We went on to win it at U17s, and Colts twice, where Paul played a vital part in those victories. He played for all the Senior sides, including a few games at National level for the 1st XV. He later joined Ashley Down OB,s where he was a star player. His fierce competitiveness and will to win will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates at this incredibly sad time. Paul’s funeral is at Westerleigh, Waterside Chapel on Thursday the 13th @ 2.15pm, following on to the Three Brooks, Bradley Stoke.
RIP Jimmy, you will be sorely missed.
Aftab Hamid, Chairman Clifton RFC
