John was a familiar figure across Bristol rugby and a genuine fixture within the Combination.

Through his photography and writing, he documented the local game with real passion, character and commitment.

Although our loyalties were often to rival clubs, John’s fierce devotion to his own club, to Bristol rugby and to the people within it was always unmistakable. He brought energy, humour and personality wherever he went, and his presence on touchlines across the city will be greatly missed.

Our sincere condolences go to John’s family, friends and everyone who knew him.
