1st & 2nd XV take on Met in Double-Header

Following on from their superb win against National 1's Taunton, Clifton are once again in action this weekend as they welcome University giants Cardiff Metropolitan to Station Road in a double -header.

BUCS Super League frontrunners Met previously visited Station Road 2 years ago where they ran out winners in what was high scoring and pulsating game and much will be anticipated of both teams on what promises to be an enjoyable day of rugby, despite the forecast conditions.

The Wanderers are in action at 13:30 against Cardiff Met Archers followed by the 1st XV in the Main Pitch, Kick-Off 15:00. Following on from last week's win, it will prove Clifton with another difficult test as they look to build on their performance last week.

Head Coach Matt Salter is still looking to build depth to his squad ahead of the new season whilst also ensuring that consistency is at the forefront of his players minds:

"Last week was good from a point of view that a lot of boys put their hands up and we showed some glimpses of what we are capable of. I was pleased with the physicality and the resilience we showed and how we stayed in the fight; capitalising on that momentum swing."

"This week will again be tough; Cardiff are physical, fit and play with tempo, much like Taunton so we need to ensure we are switched on from kick off. We've got 40 boys playing this weekend and it's great to get boys out there and obviously gives us a great opportunity to see them in action as we look to the start of the season in 2 weeks. Everyone gets an opportunity and we want to see them take those, but also ensure that they are doing the right things in the right areas of the field."

Clifton look forward to welcoming spectators tomorrow for the first time in over 18months. However, the bar, stand and club facilities are still under-going renovation works and will be closed tomorrow until they have been completed by the end of the weekend. Toilet facilities and outside bar will be open and serving drinks to spectators.
