Ross Reeves

The Club is saddened to learn about the sudden death of former player & coach, Ross Reeves.

#RaiseAGlassForRoss

Few can leave a legacy of elite sport performance, motivational coaching, fun memories, a joy for rugby and a reputation for just being a 'good bloke'.

Originally from Canada, Ross played football and was part of the Canadian bobsleigh team before playing rugby and eventually making his way to the UK.

Playing for Bristol, Clifton, Aretians and Cleve, Ross spent the last 2 decades playing and coaching at Dursley. His colts development work has kept him close touch with old teamates across the county.

Former team mate Aftab Hamid, who played alongside Ross in the successful Clifton 1st XV under Pete Polledri in the mid-1990s remembers him well, "Ross was physically very fit and always played at a high tempo. He played for Clifton 1st and 2nd XVs and once he left the club we were always looking forward to an opportunity to play against a team with Ross in it. Wherever he was playing, it was fun, sporting and welcoming. There aren't many like him."

As one of many Clifton Nomads players that will share the sentiment, myself and everyone at Clifton Rugby want to express our deepest condolences to Ross' family, Sally, Jack and Jessica.

I encourage all to take part in #RaiseAGlassForRoss this Saturday 11th April @ 2:30pm when rugby should have been continuing as normal and Ross would have been on the sideline having fun.
