The Wanderers (2nd XV) and newly named Misfits (3rd XV) are hoping for strong starts to their respective league campaigns with high ambitions for the season ahead. Experience meets youth and new talent in the two Clifton development sides as many players look to impress with competition for places hot across the senior squad.

An experienced front row of Turner, Wheeler and Giltrow bring a wealth of National League experience to the Wanderers front row. Bergh packs down with new signing Grinsted in the second row. Ex Clifton juniors Davey and Ponting keep their places in the back row following strong preseason performances in the Wanderers side who put on a good preseason show against Chippenham last week and are joined by the relentless Woodward.

Openshaw makes his competitive return in Clifton colours and partners with captain Joyce at halfback. New signings Richards and Tayler form an exciting centre partnership. Now familiar Wanderers wingers Sloan and Shodimu continue out wide following a successful 21/22 league campaign with the former having gained some valuable 1st XV experience during preseason. Another new signing O’Connor rounds off the back three at fullback.

Utility front row Edwards and new front row signing Buckley will both want to make an impact from the bench.

There are many familiar faces in the newly named Misfits from the Wanderers preseason outing against Chippenham with Nassiri, Beavon, Anderson, Lunnon, Lang, Leitch, Trusler and Bartoli-Edwards all selected. They are joined by the welcome return of Hilton, Webb, Jenkins, Paul and Barron, all of whom featured heavily for the 3rd XV last season. The Nomads side also features player-coach McGrath and club stalwart Pomphrey.
