Straight from the kick off a strong drive by the Clifton pack made their intentions clear. The
ball was cleverly switched to the backs who fed influential prop Alex Giltrow to power over
close to the posts with Brad Barnes converting to give the early lead he then kicked a penalty
to open up a ten point lead
Throughout the match the home team pack’s dominance in the scrums with Giltrow to the
fore was the deciding feature. The pressure exerted led to Worthing incurring two yellow
cards and allowed second half impact replacement Alfie To’ola to touch down two push
over tries
The e Raiders came into the game courtesy of a Matt .MacLean penalty only for further
Clifton pressure sending second row Henry Harper over with Barnes again converting. The
referee reversed a penalty decision to give the visitors an attacking opportunity and lick
handling saw Jonathan Dawe cross with McLean converting. Barnes extended the home
advantage with a penalty
The yellow cards frustrated Worthing in the second half and Clifton took full advantage to
opt for scrums instead of attempting penalties leading to the two pushover tries and secure
the try bonus point. Barnes did kick a further penalty to increase the lead
Deep in injury time Cutis Barnes crossed wide out for Worthing to reduce the deficit
