Misfits v Yate 1s

It was a big week for the misfits this week as there were some questions that needed answers.

Clifton started strong out the blocks despite the injuries that have plagued the squad paired with the fact that it was only the second game back since Christmas.
Centre Webb started the scoring early only 6 mins into the game for the home side.

Yate were no easy pack and struck back swiftly with their experience showing, scoring 3 tries in succession pegging the scores to 17-5 to the away side at half time.

Clifton needed to dig deep and with wonder boy prop Kinny Qumar making a late appearance for the second half resetting the Clifton pack and Will Pomphrey and Will Loftus bringing some freshness to the side opening up Yates weak points with some thunderous runs, Yate were under some serious pressure at the start of the second half.

Deservedly Wing Joe Osbourne opened up the Yate defence 5mins into the 2nd half with Lang converting the try. A very honourable mention to Patrice ‘the flash’ King, who definitely had his running shoes on with his 40m dash securing a neatly finished try for himself with Lang again converting, putting Clifton ahead by 3 points.

Yate bit back 5mins later with a converted try out wide.

Clifton needed to dig deep with Back row Charlie Shaw scoring a big try and veteran Pomphrey storming a 60m run and claiming another big try, with captain Pete Anderson assisting.

With 4 mins left Yate managed to again score in the corner again leaving the final score a deserved 31-31 split.

A great game of Rugby and one certainly for the neutrals and purists!

Clifton's young side can take a lot from this game, but one thing that can’t be questioned is the heart the boys had during the game. Up the Clif!
