Clifton Misfits piled the pressure on League leaders BAC with an emphatic statement win over Dings 3rds in the first of the Bristol derby match ups.
Clifton raced out of the blocks to score in the first 90 seconds of the game when prop Kinny Qumar capitalised on a loose ruck ball on the Dings try line.
Despite Dings’s domination over the set piece Clifton repeatedly stepped up through the gears in the first half with a brace from prop Matin Nassiri, tries for both the Paul brothers as well as finishes from Lucas Spindler and Tom Stirzaker.
Clifton went into the break 43-0 up but unsatisfied with how many other points had gone begging.
Dings drew first blood in the second half. The response though was swift and decisive as MOM Dylan Webb lead the charge with Clifton adding to the score sheet with tries from three of the ‘bomb squad’ replacements, Jack Shodimu and Oscar Webb.
Dings rallied to notch a late second score, but Clifton landed the final blows with efforts from second row Callum Hilton and substitute winger Patrice King.
Final score:
67-10
The result cements The Misfits second place position in the league ahead of their top of the table clash at the BAWA club in a fortnights time.
