Clifton v Tetbury

Another sunny day at Clifton brought last year's county cup winners to the club for a friendly fixture. Tetbury came with a few players missing and huge thanks are due to Shane, Owen, Olly N and Callum for agreeing to play some of the game for Tetbury. All four gave their all and were praised by the Tetbury team.

The game started in tremendous style with backs and forwards taking training ground work onto the pitch in devastating fashion. The whole team showed great handling and support play with Sam R, Matt, Ryley and Olly N all scoring early tries. The rest of the first half continued in a similar fashion with Luke and Herbie scoring before Alex G appeared on the overlap to finish another great move before the break. 7 different scorers showed what a great team performance this was.

The second half was never going to match the first and we did get a bit untidy at times and gave away a few too many penalties. Tetbury also showed their spirit and were far more competitive particularly at the breakdown. Further good tries from Sam R, George and Dominic with Hugo adding a few conversions completed our scoring before Tetbury had the last say their second half performance deserved.

The whole team should be really pleased with the performance although sterner tests lie ahead. The man of the match award really could have gone to anyone in the team but Olly N gets the nod for his performance both for Clifton and Tetbury.
