Clifton v Old Richians

Cup win

We welcomed Old Richians to Clifton for a pool game in the Gloucestershire Youth County Cup.

We did not know what to expect having not played Old Richians for many seasons.

We started well with a strong run from Dom resulting in a superb try. Sam R then scored a couple of excellent tries before Matthew and Ollie crossed before half time. Just before the break Old Richians intercepted near their own line and ran the length of the pitch to score. This left the half time score as 31-7.
The second half saw more great play with a number of strong runs from the forwards including Ryley and Ben C. Further tries came from Dom, Sam S from a really strong straight run and Matthew who played a storming game at fullback. Dom then crossed after a great move to secure a captain’s hat trick before Shane scored a well deserved try under the posts following another great period of play. Elliot and Hugo both slotted over a few conversions to make the final score 62-7.

It turned out to be a comfortable win with the whole squad contributing and making it very difficult to single out any individual performance. The half backs Luke and Hugo got the back line going forward really well but this week after speaking to the referee we decided to give the Man of Match to Ryley for his all round game.
