Clifton Krush Kenysham

Keynsham got off to a strong start, with a well placed kick to begin the game and retaining possession for the first 5-10 minutes of the game. The Clifton forwards on the other hand got off to a lousy start and this meant that the Kenysham team could gather some momentum and they worked their way up to the home side's 22.

However after a penalty in the rucks going our way and a good kick to touch by Sam Costley Clifton u15 opened up, spinning the ball wide, Clifton managed to work their way beyond the half way line. Once the forwards had woken up and they had realised that this looked to be a much better team than the one we played earlier on in the season they pulled their finger out and started to get up some steam.
After some good crash balls from Monty, Tom Sims and Ryley we got close to the opposition line and spun it wide for Owen to score the first try of the game in the corner. A fantastic kick from Costley, Clifton lead 7-0

This time retaining possession from the kick off and the forwards keeping the ball nicely, Matt then gave a nice pass to Owen who went for a fantastic run down the left wing and got Clifton well beyond the halfway. As per usual Clifton chucked the ball out wide, Sam Costley made a nice break and with a two on one with the full back Sam Read went over for our second try.

Despite regular breaks in play for some Keynsham players to be injured once Clifton had gathered momentum, Sam Read showcased some first class footwork superior pace and went over the the try line for 2 more tries, completing his hat-trick. Half Time Clifton 24-0 Keynsham

Good start to the second half by the forwards with some nice pick and gos they lead Clifton up to the Kenysham line. Louis then picked a gap and dived over the line from his favourite distance (2m)

After some good build up play Hugo gave the ball out wide to Sam Costley who then displayed some trade mark gas down the right wing putting Clifton once again near the Keynsham line, Matt Jones then appeared with the ball in the centres and then threw a deceiving dummy which bamboozled the Keynsham back line and ran though the middle to score under the posts.

The Clifton towards had found their feet now and were working nicely together, setting the ball up nicely and drawing defenders into the rucks. This gave Hugo another chance to lob a pass out to the right wing as he saw the space and Once again Sam Costley fooled the defenders and glided past the Keynsham back line leaving them stunned and he put the ball over the line.

The Clifton forwards then broke the gain line off a well worked line out soon after the restart and made some hard yards. Ashe then made a fantastic break down the left wing and gave a good offload to Dom who performed a world class step leaving the Kenysham full back tumbling backwards over his ankles. Dom placed the ball down for Clifton’s 8th try.

Clifton got the ball back after the try and set the ball up nicely with some nice crash balls from the forwards. Tom Sims however did a stand out carry as he charged towards the Keynsham hooker who did his best to try to stop the rampaging Sims, however his efforts were no use as 110kg of prop effortlessly demolished the petrified Keynsham player. He then gathered up momentum and acheived speeds unseen by man kind and headed for the line. The Kenysham full back then took one look at Tom Sims, said his prayers and courageously hurled himself at the lumbering chunk of meat. Somehow the Keynsham fullback managed to drag Tom Sims to the ground to the astonishment of everyone in attendance. Not quite sure if the Keynsham number 15 is still alive after his daring tackle but I didn’t see an ambulance.

The tackle didn’t actually make much of a difference in the end as Clifton then retained possession, chucked the ball out to Matt Jones who proceeded to run through most of the team and give a selfless pass to Elias to score his first try for Clifton U15.
