Clifton march on in Cup

Clifton eased into the semi-final of the Bristol Combination Cup with an entertaining 34-12 victory over visitors Clevedon.
The seaside side arrived one player short, so Nick generously loaned a player each half and declined Clevedon's offer to forfeit the game.
It could have been tricky if loan players Owen in the first half and Ollie Morris in the second had run in several tries from the wing. But they didn't. However thank you to those two for stepping up.
In fact Clifton took control early on with a try from Matt, who also finished with a flourish scoring the final try.
Dom, who showed his outstanding speed and attacking prowess throughout, also bagged a brace of tries.
Other try scorers were new centre Ollie Hill and wannabe centre Tom Sims.
Just as against Pates the week before, the performances - particularly in attack - remain good in spite of the injuries that have dogged us this season.
There is real depth in the squad now and good competition in many positions.
Thanks to Justin Morris for taking up the whistle in the first half after a no-show from the appointed ref.
He even proved his impartiality by pinging his own son for holding on (maybe not how he would have seen it from the stand).
So we meet either Weston or St Brendan's in the next round.
