I woke up with confidence that we were going to win against Old Bristolians. We had a strong side with Tom (Speedy) and Tom M included, so I felt we had a chance. I got out the door with my whole family coming to watch. We got to our home ground and passed the ball round in a circle to warm up. We then split up into teams. I was Blacks with Jake, Wesley, Rohan, Lily Mae, Josh, Ben, Jack and Charlie V. We had a strong team, Ben played hooker with Josh and Rohan at loose and tight heads, Charlie at scrum half, Jack at fly half, me at inside and Jake outside center with Wesley and Lily Mae as our wingers (Lily Mae rotated positions with Rohan). Our first game was against a mixed ability side Old Bristolians. We started well.

We had kick off and Jack kicked it long to the right and we chased it down fast. I tackled the player immediately after he caught the ball. We counter-rucked the ball and Charlie played it to me down the blindside and I ran in to score our first try of the match which led on to an easy game for us but not for them. We ran on to score 9 tries to none with Jake scoring a great try down the blind side picking up the ball from a knock on by their winger and dashing through their defensive line. We went into the next game with growing confidence that we were going to win. This game was a bit harder but we still came out victorious winning 3-0, with Jake scoring once, Wesley and I also grabbing in on the act.

We went into the last game with our Gloucester Cup team: Tom (Speedy), Tom M, Rohan, Josh, Jake, Jacque, Charlie V, Philip and myself. We started well pressing high in their half, with every ruck we were in counter-rucking. We also defended well with Josh in every ruck leading the way, and it played off with us scoring the first try. Josh charged down a kick, putting pressure on them on their try line. They kicked to clear it but the ball went straight to me and I ran over to score the first try of the match just before the end of the first half. Second half was improved from the first half and we scored with us counter-rucking and Charlie playing a quick ball to Josh and he busted through their line of defence and with 4 men on him he scored a great try from a great counter-ruck. The game ended 2-1 as they managed to get a try on the base of the post but it was controversial. The player had dropped the ball ever so slightly but because they worked hard they deserved it.

We will improve on the areas were need to improve on and we will try harder in the game!
